I Miss Using Acrylic Paints

I have a ceramic work and a few watercolour things, but first I have to ramble a bit.
So I was at your pants, in the visual arts forum, when I came across a link in a signature (or maybe 23 links, most of which I was to adhd to pay attention too), and found myself intrigued. One blog I found is called Life With SarahB, and looking at her posts, I realized how much I miss acrylic paints. Trying new things, different styles and switching things up. So, go check her out. The funny thing is that, while at the chain store my parents shop at, I picked up a few oval pieces of wood. They get to be acrylicized. Also, I've had this idea for a few weeks, and I'm going to use some canvas board I painted over (I can't remember the rubbish that I originally painted on it.) and try to make that in acrylic.
I'm quite tired at the moment, due to a "crazy" sleep over that lasted well into the night. Plus, disappointment makes me tired, as does a myriad of other things. So, some things to look at, and I'm off.

Tonights Gonna Be A Good Night?.... I'd Rather it be Productive

Basically, I'm taking all of my paints, canvases and works in progress up to my room with me tonight.
I am going to shower, fill a bazillion cups with water and grab some towels.
Then, I'm going to go ape-shite all over my room.
I've a project due tomorrow, or well, Friday morning. It's a painting, that I will finish on time. I have to.
Then I've a christmas project to finish, and a bunch of other ideas. That's just the acrylic stuff.
Then you've the watercolour works, and pencil work, and coloured pencil, and pastel and charcoal.
Yeah, I'm planning on getting little to no sleep tonight.
I'm okay with that.

Loves,
Sarah

Drawings, Wolverine, Music and an Old, Forgotten Painting

So, I've been spending a lot of time in my room, sitting at my desk, drawing. I'm gonna post some more drawings and sketches toward the end of this post. I've been feeling really odd, and quite spazzy. So, I've been listening to a lot of CD's, different bands. Plus, I got a few new ones. But, I listen mostly to The Hush Sound, Oasis, 3Oh!3, The Wombats, Vampire weekend, Eric hutchinson and Muse. You can see the top CD's on my pile in the picture I took.
Oh, so Sadly, Salazar is becoming much more filled. I'm not sure what's gotten into me, but I've just been drawing up a storm lately. I'm not complaining. Anyway, I've a few sketchbooks for once he's full. And the next ones I've are a plain tan moleskins, so I'll be able to decorate them. You can see them now, before I take stickers, markers, and/or other stuff to them. All packed up nice and neat.

Also, I'm working on a multiblock print in my advanced studies class, of a photo I took myself. It's inspired me to try and make some stamps of my own. No, I'm not carving into erasers.... yes I am. Oh, and I've been having my friends draw me photos on sticky notes, and have pages in Salazar for them. I absoloutly love sticky notes. Yay. Oh, and I've a disposable camera almost all the time. Not only am I documenting my senior year, but If I'm lucky, I've a few neat shots on the camera I'm currently working on.

Ever since I drew Wolverine on a hard boiled egg in July (don't ask,) I've been kinda sorta obsessed with the clawed super-awesome hero. So I now have purchased a multitude of comics, and have spent four dollars and about 10 minutes in the dollar store, feeling through foil packaging. I got stickers, but more importantly, I now own a short little Wolverine Figurine. Best Day Ever.

Sooooooo, now you get to see a bunch of pages from my sketchbook, uploaded to photobucket. You can click on them to see them in a larger view. They are a variety of pen, coloured pencil, Sharpie, watercoloured pencil, and washable marker.

Oh, one more thing. I found a painting I "finished" in August, mostly splattering with a hint of a face behind it. Acrylic paint, I was thinking about doing a few others, as a sort of 'series,' but have since then changed my mind. This was titled "Disquietude." I'm not sure if I'm going to post the actual painting, but I was taking detail shots, and really liked this one. So, I leave you with a shot of splattering and lips. (Click to see it larger)

Meet Salazar and What I've Been Working On

Soooo, My Sketchbook, Lotus is, sadly, full. But, it is also a joyous occasion. A few days ago, I began working in Salazar. He's this kick ass semi-hard covered book, with slightly green tinted papers, and a Slytherin Crest on the cover. I love him.
So, he is the best sketchbook ever. Sharpie doesn't bleed through his pages, and he takes acrylic paint rather well. I love him, so much. I know, I'm odd talking about an object in such a way. But, remember that I'm easily amused. (Looking at the photo reminds me of a movie I watched the other day. Why did they have to kill all the snakes on the plane?!? They have feelings too.) I'll post a few of the things I've done in him thus far. I'll get more of the sketches up later.

Soooooooo, in other news, I start school tomorrow, and am incredibly excited! PLUS, today while at the home improvement store, I picked up an adjustable window screen, so I've two pieces of mesh on frames. They are large enough, so if I'm lucky I can make large sheets of paper. I've always wanted to recycle paper. If all goes well, I'll be making my own sketchbooks in no time. Plus, I could share with my friends :) Also, I've a roll of film to pick up from the store, and another roll and a disposable camera to pick up. So, I'm quite the happy camper right now.
Yay for the beginning of the school year!

Sarah

Photography & Painting

This comes in two parts, Photography and Painting.... With a third little snippit of rambles at the end. Remember, you love me anyways, quirky is more fun then dull and boring.

Photography
So, my Digital Camera, Colin, is on his last leg. He no longer turns off fully, so I must pop his batteries after the lense goes back in. He also likes to half turn off after every few photos. This leads to missed shots and corrupted files. Needless to say, I'm saving up for a camera (who wants to get me a Nikon D3000? Pretty Please with Cherries). Until then, I will still use Colin when I'm at home, and mum's camera. I've a horse show to shoot the 11th, so I'm getting to know hers better. (I've named it Harriet, since she never names anything of imporance like she should.)
Not only am I using Harriet, but I'm taking this as an opportunity to really dive into the world of film. So, I'm on the hunt for film cameras and film, both expired and not. I've two of mum's three film cameras (neither work, but I still love them and will name them,) my original 110 Crayola camera, some random pink one I was given as a secret santa ($5 or less....), and until I get a working 35mm of my own, my Grandmum is letting me borrow hers (I've named her Francine.) I've been pretty much searching through the house for film (I've 6 expired rolls, one being in use ATM), and single-use vacation cameras. I've a friend who is willing to let me have a few that she got for free. If I didn't already have a fru-fru pet name for her, I'd give her one now. I just wish I could Pay her back.
Anyway, below is a picture of my current collection of film and cameras (plus you can see the slip from Walmart, I dropped off a roll today, my coin jar, my digital camera case, and my jar of Marmite). Then, on to painting.

Painting
So, today after I took Francine for an hour and a half walk outside, I decided to schlepp all of my paints and canvases and boards outside. Lots of spazzing and flicking, messing around and a little bit of trying to make something that doesn't suck. Really, I've no niche, I've no real skill at painting. So, I'm pretty much just messing around and trying to figure out what I'm gonna want to practice over and over, to be good at. Any suggestions are TOTALLY loved. Fo' Sho'.
Oh, and a random blue leaf-ed tree that I painted. Why....? I dunno.

So, now, random spazzing.
My camera is dying. My Zune, Ronaldo, is going as well. I've the worst timing ever. Marching band is coming up, as well as school. I need to get a job. Damn. Okay, I'm done complaining.
In other news that won't make sense to you, but I'd like to get it off my chest. I tried. I'm not sure if it was bad timing on my part, or if my efforts are in vain, and that's to hard to admit.? I'm to impaitient. Grrr, Arggg. Imma go sleep or something? I dunno.

With love,
Sarah

Outsides, Feelings and Splats

After painting for a total of 6 plus hours, broken into two three-ish hour sessions, many things had happened. My outsides were almost totally covered in paint. Arms, legs, face, neck, and everything in between, seemed coated in red and purple and blue and green. I love the feel of paint on my skin, and the smell of paint, and what it's like to create something with it. The outsides of the house showed signs of my presents as well. There were large splats of blue and purple on the house, door and the cement. The dog has a blue spot on the top of her head, and the picnic table that I paint on, it's a lost cause. Finger painting, splatter painting, and layering with pallet knives in the dark have taken a toll.
The first of the painting 'sessions' I had two others with me. So, I wasn't about to dance around in pigtails as I do when I paint alone. It's very hard for me, to try to be calm and composed as I paint, and it showed. Taylor asked me about my current state plenty of times, but what else is new? Even my splatter painting was stiff and strained. What can I say? I cannot perform with an audience that I'm trying not to appear too terribly odd in front of.
The second session was a much needed one. To be frank, after the first one ended my anger and frustration started to build, impairing my ability to focus and teach the oboe. It took cookie dough, Voltaire and talking it out to ginger #1 to calm me down. When I went out to paint, the sun was just starting to set. I loosened up, figured out a few ideas, and stitched together my plan for the 'Big Azz Canvas.' I painted from about quarter to nine until almost midnight, using a flashlight only when necessary, stopping for a drink and to apply bug spray. I may have finished more paintings, one being a spazzy face done to kill time, but the other is a sort of abstract-y face that I may like. I don't know.
I get to spend some time today with people at the park, possibly drawing and causing a ruckus, which is always fun. I still need to do a sketchbook dump, when I can focus, and post some shots of paintings in progress.

Sarah

Finished Painting:: Mind. Blown.

I am incredibly excited. I've been working on it for a while, acrylic paint on canvas board, but it's finally done!

Mind. Blown.

I am so excited! I will not be able to sleep.
