I Get All The Guys, I Get All The Guys

Okay, not really. I just have "The Girls" by Calvin Harris stuck in my head. BUT, said odd title is actually relevant with this post. What. Now.
All I seem to be drawing right now is males. I take that as a good thing. Everyone draws girls, but never guys. They can be just as beautiful as women, hard and strong versus soft and curvy. So, my guess is my next dump will have a lot of testosterone in it. Hell, I already sketched out 1 1/2 guys today (thanks to some lovely stock images.) The first one's below, and you can click it for a better view, details and a link to the reference photo.

Also, I finished my last recycled paper sketchbook for now. I've started a black landscape spiral one, but still draw vertiacally most of the time. So, I've to keep my eyes peeled for some more green paper. Other great news, Dad may come home from the hospital tomorrow (well, today. It's 1am.) Woo productive inability to sleep!

Adieu, 2010. Good Riddance.

This year was good. Then it  was awesome. Then it was terrible, less terrible, almost okay, and for the last few weeks, took a turn for the even worse. Much has been learned, much has been lost, and in the end I feel slightly forgotten. But, in approximately three hours and nineteen minutes, it will be over. But really, what does the end of the year matter?
The world isn't going to shift on it's axis, I won't suddenly find myself with loads of cash and males drooling all over me. I will still have to practice at art and music to improve. Dad will still be sick in the hospital, and I will still be a head case, looking for some happiness in my terribly angsty teenage sort of world. It's all quite depressing, seeing how terrible my life is. Everyone should pity me, really. I'm poor little Sarah, who needs everyone to stop dealing with their problems, and cater to my every whim.... Haha, that's funny. Sure, I vent, but even I can't be that obnoxious.

It appears to be time for resolutions, things that I'd like to accomplish in the year 2011. Yeah.

1. Increase Creativity
Generalizations are fun! But, I'll be more specific.
-- I'd like to paint more, Acrylic & Watercolour.
-- A month to fill a sketchbook, it shows I need to make an effort to draw daily.
-- I'm going to have prints of at least one drawing or painting. And I'm going to sell them.
-- I'm going to open my Etsy Shop, Art and Audacity. I'm so close to being able to.
-- I Will get my Nikon D3100 if it kills me. Seriously.
-- Maybe sort of try and get more blog traffic.... :)
2. Decrease Hate & Pessimism
3. Be more Prompt & Reliable
-- I will plan, not put to much on my plate and ask for help if I need it.
4. Be More Confident.
-- I'm going to take compliments in stride,
-- Feel confident in my own skin
-- And Own how awesome I am.
5. Read & Write Like there is no tomorrow.
-- I want to get published, so I'm going to write daily.
-- Not only would I love a novel published, but short stories, novellas & poems are awesome too.
-- Reading at least 4 days a week is a must.
-- Editing and learning more about Grammar and spelling too.

Was there anything else I meant to add to this? Probably. Am I going to wrack my brain? No. I'm much to busy dwelling in hateful thoughts and self-loathing for, say,  three hours and three minutes.

Don't You Just Hate

When people post blogs that are unusually out of character, and/or lists of things that they need to remember? Hi, and welcome.
Why am I out of character? I'm not sure. Well, I do, but it's nothing to disguss on a blog. Let's just say I kinda want to crawl in a hole and hybernate, while at the same time I'd like to get out of said hole, and run around like a baffoon. Two friends in two days tying your stomach in knots. Maybe it can make for good art? I dunno.
I've also been writing, and posting at my writing blog, which you can get to via my profile, which you can view thanks to a link on the sidebar. It's good, I need to get ready for college essays and NaNoWriMo.

Oh, so. The list. By the end of the week.
- Illustration Friday is Beneath
-PF is Macro Shot
-Three Muses' theme is Music
-I'm going to finish carving and printing my first multiblock print
-I'd like to draw another still life
-And you'll see some watercolour soon (I'm thinkin' next week.)

Wish me luck. The song of the day seems to be "Break the Sky," by the Hush Sound.

Sarah

Outsides, Feelings and Splats

After painting for a total of 6 plus hours, broken into two three-ish hour sessions, many things had happened. My outsides were almost totally covered in paint. Arms, legs, face, neck, and everything in between, seemed coated in red and purple and blue and green. I love the feel of paint on my skin, and the smell of paint, and what it's like to create something with it. The outsides of the house showed signs of my presents as well. There were large splats of blue and purple on the house, door and the cement. The dog has a blue spot on the top of her head, and the picnic table that I paint on, it's a lost cause. Finger painting, splatter painting, and layering with pallet knives in the dark have taken a toll.
The first of the painting 'sessions' I had two others with me. So, I wasn't about to dance around in pigtails as I do when I paint alone. It's very hard for me, to try to be calm and composed as I paint, and it showed. Taylor asked me about my current state plenty of times, but what else is new? Even my splatter painting was stiff and strained. What can I say? I cannot perform with an audience that I'm trying not to appear too terribly odd in front of.
The second session was a much needed one. To be frank, after the first one ended my anger and frustration started to build, impairing my ability to focus and teach the oboe. It took cookie dough, Voltaire and talking it out to ginger #1 to calm me down. When I went out to paint, the sun was just starting to set. I loosened up, figured out a few ideas, and stitched together my plan for the 'Big Azz Canvas.' I painted from about quarter to nine until almost midnight, using a flashlight only when necessary, stopping for a drink and to apply bug spray. I may have finished more paintings, one being a spazzy face done to kill time, but the other is a sort of abstract-y face that I may like. I don't know.
I get to spend some time today with people at the park, possibly drawing and causing a ruckus, which is always fun. I still need to do a sketchbook dump, when I can focus, and post some shots of paintings in progress.

With Love,
Sarah
